He was the son of Maj Malcolm Louis WOOLLCOMBE CMG OBE (1891-1968), scion of that gentry family formerly of Ashbury (cadets of the Woollcombes of Hemerdon), and Eileen Marguerite dau of Lt-Col Alfred CONWAY-BISHOP, and was unmarried.
