1715 - 1724 headmaster of the Free School (TUCKER's School) at Beaminster. 1724 left Beaminster for Vicarage at Butleigh. 7 Apr 1761 received living of Thorncombe. Will proved Aug 1777 at PCC. Refers to: "my dear wife and four children Mary Richard John and Arthur William" (deceased), "my daughter Ann", "my sons Captain Samuel and Captain Alexander ... their sister Walker", "my daughter Anne". Will also contains the following text: "I bless the Goodness of God for giving me the inexpressible satisfaction that all my dear children live in perfect love and unity and that their affections for each other are cordially cemented" - this (coupled with the mention of his deceased wife & children) implies that all his children are mentioned.
